On January 16, 2025, an on-site technical session of representatives from the project “Import Substitution in the Pulp and Paper and Wood Processing Industries of the Russian Federation” was held at JSC Solikamskbumprom.
The session was initiated by the Russian Union of Timber Industrialists and Exporters and the “National Union of Domestic Papermaking Machinery Enterprises and Organizations”, which unites representatives of Russian production enterprises to build partnerships for import substitution at forestry and industrial enterprises across the country. The purpose of the visit was to revive domestic papermaking machinery manufacturing, produce and supply import-substituted products, and reduce the share of imports in the procurement needs of the pulp and paper industry.
Participants met with the management and chief specialists of Solikamskbumprom, visited the production sites of the enterprise, where they were able to visually examine the equipment.
During the dialogue, the parties discussed opportunities for manufacturing and repairing equipment, spare parts, and components through equipment reengineering, as well as leveraging R&D (research and development) conducted by Bummash. They also outlined strategic collaboration plans.
— Our key goal, beyond import substitution, is proactive import substitution: manufacturing the necessary equipment and spare parts using our own developments and improved technologies. Today we have given a start to further joint work, — said Andrei Vladimirovich Kondron, President and General Director of the National Union “Bummash”. — I believe we have established an effective dialogue, and we will have to resolve all the issues that arose during the meeting together.
Based on the results of the session, the prospects for further cooperation will be outlined. The President of the company Natalia Sergeevna Stupnikova has already made a decision to develop a plan of interaction between JSC Solikamskbumprom and the National Union “Bummash”.
— The project will increase our technological sovereignty through the use of products and technologies of Russian manufacturers and developers, — commented Natalia Sergeevna. — We hope to reduce the share of imports in purchases, as today dependence on imports is a deterrent to the development of production. It is important to note that the cooperation of forestry enterprises and the National Union “Bummash” will contribute to the achievement of strategic goals and objectives set by the President of the Russian Federation to build and strengthen Russia's technological sovereignty.
