With the financial support of JSC “Solikamskbumprom”, the book “Vaysky Whetstone” - the memoirs of Leonid Leontiev, director of the Vaysky Timber Industry Enterprise from 1958 to 1973 - was published. For a long time, the manuscript remained inaccessible to the general public, but today, thanks to the partnership's support and the painstaking work of the creative team of publishers, it has acquired a book form.
This publication is dedicated to the development of the Vaya timber industry and the people who, through incredible efforts, developed the forestry industry in the Krasnovishersky District. This nearly 70-year-long story is a tribute to the memory of the northern corner, which is called Vaya.The book's title itself is intriguing - “Vaysky Whetstone”. A whetstone is a sharpening stone, a tool used to test the strength, sharpen, and polish metal products. The forestry company's formative years served as just such a “whetstone” for many employees: they grew stronger and grew as professionals, implementing advanced work methods and mastering new technologies for harvesting and transporting timber.
- Through the lens of the history of the Vaysky timber industry enterprise, the author tells us how the industry was built step by step: settlements were built, roads were laid, technologies were improved," noted Vladimir Anisin, Director of Logging and Forest Supply at JSC “Solikamskbumprom”. - We are honored to be involved in this project - a book about the people, pioneers, and masters of their craft, whose work largely determined the development of the logging industry. Today, it is important to remember and carefully preserve this history, which teaches respect for the profession, fortitude, and the continuity of generations.
- We have been cooperating with JSC “Solikamskbumprom” for more than 20 years," added Nina Plotnikova, deputy of the Duma of the Krasnovishersky Municipal District, a member of the publishing group. - All these years, the company has been systematically supporting our initiatives. Together we have implemented many important social projects. Today we are holding in our hands a new product of our cooperation - a commemorative book that tells about the development of the forestry industry not only in the Krasnovishersky district, but also throughout the country.
