At the site of JSC "Solikamskbumprom" a meeting of ecologists of the pulp and paper industry was held, at which they discussed changes in environmental legislation, complex issues and ways to solve them.
The initiator of the round table was the Russian association of organizations and enterprises of the pulp and paper industry RAO Bumprom. Within the framework of this industry association, there is a working group, which includes ecologists of almost all enterprises of the pulp and paper industry in Russia.
Today, the activities of industrial enterprises in the field of environmental protection are strictly regulated, significant changes have been made to environmental legislation. During the meeting, they discussed the use of BAT (best available technologies) by enterprises of the wood processing industry and their receipt of IEP (integrated environmental permit).
Yuri Lakhtikov, Chairman of the Board of RAO Bumprom, member of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Pulp and Paper and Timber Industry:
- Most of the problems for enterprise environmentalists lie precisely in the field of law enforcement practice due to the lack of feedback from enterprises to government agencies. At such meetings, a common position is developed, reasonable proposals to government agencies, for further adjusting their policy.
What we have seen today at Solikamskbumprom JSC - experience and modern technologies - once again prove that this enterprise is modern, setting a trend in the industry, and I am sure that the issues of obtaining IEP will be resolved here in the near future.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed in which the members of the working group agreed on specific actions to address the issues discussed at the round table.
